Speciality: 122 Computer Sciences

Educational Program: Computer Technologies in Biology and Medicine

Form of Study: Full-time

The curriculum is structured in such a way that each student can acquire the necessary knowledge for future work in various fields. It consists of cycles of general and professional training, which are divided into the following groups:

• Educational disciplines of natural science preparation (sections of higher mathematics, physics, foreign languages, etc.);

• Basic training subjects (courses in programming languages like Python, C++, Java, etc., database systems, decision-making theory, data analysis, etc.);

• Social and humanitarian training disciplines;

• Professional and practical training subjects (neural networks, bioinformatics, fundamentals of artificial intelligence, etc.).

The training program for specialists (bachelors, masters, postgraduates) takes into account global and Ukrainian needs and trends in the healthcare system and the IT industry. Currently, information technologies in the field of healthcare are a key segment, involving the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of information systems and software solutions for various service providers in this field. Healthcare IT covers a wide range of solutions, including:

• Specialized software applications for managing medical information on personal computers and platforms for hospitals, clinics, and other medical service providers;

• Software for managing medical activities, daily clinical operations, and administrative tasks;

• Decision-making systems;

• Remote patient monitoring technologies and other medical information systems in hospitals, clinics, and medical institutions;

• Hardware and software solutions used for storage, retrieval, processing, and analysis of medical data;

• Solutions for secure exchange of medical information;

• Virtual monitoring and consultation, medical mobile applications, online medical record systems, self-monitoring tools.

All disciplines are mastered by students through solving real practical problems, allowing them to acquire and reinforce the necessary knowledge and skills. Systematic thinking and thorough preparation enable graduates to easily adapt in various fields of information technology. However, special attention is given to the healthcare sector.

Graduates of the department successfully work in leading national and international IT companies (Materialise Ukraine, EPAM Systems, Samsung R&D Institute, Fortrea, Intego Group, SoftServe), in private diagnostic centers, pharmaceutical companies, private and state healthcare institutions, educational institutions of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, research institutes of the National Academy of Medical Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. They work as computer system analysts, programmers, project managers, information systems and network administrators, database administrators, and design, develop, and implement complex information systems.
