ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

The Department of Biomedical Cybernetics is pleased to announce international cooperation with the Biometric Technologies Laboratory of the University of Calgary. This opportunity became a reality thanks to our beloved graduates, Olha Shaposhnyk and Illia Yankovyi, who are currently studying at this institution and conducting scientific research under the supervision of Dr. Svetlana Yanushkevich. The department initiated the process of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Calgary and the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” to facilitate cooperation, exchange experiences, student exchanges, and more.

The goal of our joint work is to create a stress monitoring system based on physiological indicators collected by wearable devices (such as smart bracelets). Potential users of such a system include: the general population, athletes, emergency responders, military personnel, etc. The work is being conducted within the department’s project titled “Methods and models for identifying object states in medical decision-making tasks”. The first joint article on this topic was recently submitted to the international IEEE conference “International Conference on Information and Digital Technologies 2023”.
